Step 1: Back Up Your Data

Always back up before making changes

Open Settings

Tap the Settings tab (gear icon) at the bottom of your screen.

Tap "Export Data"

In the Data Management section. This creates a complete backup of all your people, prayers, notes, and settings.

Save to Files

When the share sheet appears, tap "Save to Files" and choose iCloud Drive or On My iPhone.

💡 Pro tip: Back up regularly. You can restore anytime via Settings → Import Data.

Step 2: Enable Sync on Your Primary Device

Start with the device that has the most up-to-date data

Pick Your Primary Device

Choose the iPhone or iPad with the most complete version of your data.

Open Settings → iCloud Sync

Toggle "Sync Enabled" to on.

Confirm & Upload

Tap "Confirm". Your data will be uploaded to iCloud. You'll see a success message when it's done.

⚠️ Important: Always enable sync on your primary device first to ensure iCloud has the right data.

Step 3: Connect Additional Devices

Connect your iPad, second iPhone, or any other Apple device

Open PrayerConnect on Your Other Device

Make sure you're signed into the same Apple ID.

Enable Sync & Choose an Option

Toggle sync on. You'll see three choices:

Recommended

☁️ Use iCloud Data

Replaces this device's data with iCloud. Both devices will match.

📱 Use This Device

Uploads this device's data to iCloud instead.

🔀 Merge Both

Combines both — nothing is deleted.

✅ That's it! Sync is set up. Changes on one device automatically appear on the other.

Tips & Troubleshooting

Automatic Sync

Every time you open the app, it checks iCloud for updates in the background.

Manual Sync

Go to Settings → Sync Now to force an immediate sync at any time.

Works Offline

Changes are queued and synced automatically when you're back online.

Install PrayerConnect, enable sync, choose "Use iCloud Data" — done!

My data isn't syncing between devices

Both devices signed into the same Apple ID
iCloud Drive enabled: Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → iCloud Drive
PrayerConnect has iCloud access in Apps Using iCloud
You have available iCloud storage
Try tapping "Sync Now" in PrayerConnect Settings

The wrong data appeared on my device

Restore from backup: Settings → Import Data
Clear iCloud: Settings → Delete iCloud Data
Re-enable sync starting with your primary device

How do I stop syncing?

Go to Settings → iCloud Sync and toggle it off. Your local data stays. To also clear iCloud, tap "Delete iCloud Data" first.
